Terms of use

These terms cover your use of Headroom. By making an account you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use the app.

What Headroom is

A budgeting tool. It adds up money you have told it about, or that you have brought in from your own bank files, and shows you what is planned, what is spent and what is left.

What Headroom is not

It is not financial product advice. Nothing in the app is a recommendation to open, keep or close any bank account, card, loan, insurance policy or investment. We are not licensed to give that advice and we do not try to. Where the app explains how something works, such as how a pay cycle or an emergency fund works, that is general factual information about money, not advice about your situation.

Illustrative figures in the app, such as an example interest rate on the Goals screen, are labelled as illustrations. They are there to show how the maths works, not to predict what you would actually get.

Before making a decision that matters, consider getting advice from someone licensed to give it. Free financial counselling is available in Australia on 1800 007 007.

Who can use it

You need to be at least 15. If you are under 18, the app will not offer bank connections; you can still use files and manual entry, which is the whole product.

Your account is yours. Please do not share your sign-in codes with anyone.

Your data

You own what you put in. The privacy policy explains what we keep and where. You can export everything or delete your account at any time from Me.

Getting the numbers right

The app works from what you give it. If a bank file is read wrongly, or a transaction is put in the wrong category, the totals will be wrong too. Check the figures before you rely on them, and tell us when something looks off so we can fix the import.

We try hard to make the maths match the spreadsheet this app grew out of, and we test it, but we cannot promise the app is free of faults or always available.

Fair use

Please do not:

• Try to reach anybody else’s data.
• Attack, overload or probe the service.
• Upload someone else’s bank files without their say-so.
• Copy the app to run as your own service.

We may close an account that does these things.

While it is in beta

Headroom is early and invitation-only. Features will change, and there may be faults. Keep your own records: do not treat the app as your only copy of anything that matters.

Cost

Headroom is free during the beta. If that ever changes we will tell you well before it does, and you will be able to export everything and leave.

Ending it

You can delete your account whenever you like, from Me. We may close the service, and if we do we will give you notice and time to export your data.

Liability

Nothing here takes away rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Beyond those rights, and as far as the law allows, we are not liable for losses that follow from decisions you make using the app.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia.

Changes

If we change these terms we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
